Be a CrossFitter, not a cherry picker

When I first saw CrossFit back in the early 2000s, one of the biggest appeals to me was how frequently CrossFit asked its athletes to “compete” in another sport; 100m Dash, 1-rep max snatch, 400m swim, 5k run, etc. I always felt that a CrossFit athlete would be better suited to join in on any other activity and still be able to “hang” at said activity, better than most. This ALWAYS holds true, to those that are truly doing CrossFit. What do I mean by that… If you are doing CrossFit, you are committed. You are committed however, to everything. Not just strength, not just WODs you can do because they are “easy.” No, you are the one that comes in 10-30 minutes before class to prep. You are the one that understands that taking a day off is smart. You also don’t look at the WOD and then decide what you are going to do. You are a CrossFitter, not a cherry-picker. So, today, when we do the 5k row. I want you to re-watch the video above, and just have an appreciation for what not only these girls, but girls and boys all over our country, get up every day, before the sun ever rises, and have already rowed more than we are tomorrow. Enjoy that you can, at some level, do the “same” workout as an olympian. That’s pretty cool stuff! No, is a 5k row the most exciting event in the world? No, it’s not. But humble yourself, come in and do something that you never thought you could, and find out a little something about yourself along the way.

See you all at the box!
